The Album - Thriller (Part 2)

As a result of the prodigious selling of the “Thriller” album, Michael Jackson was credited for changing the magnitude of interest in music. The selling of albums of various artists suddenly increased, therefore Michael soon became “the saviour of the record business” (Cashbox Magazine).

All the songs, except for “Baby Be Mine” and “The Lady In My Life” were further released as singles. For “Billie Jean”, “Beat It”, and “Thriller”, he also created music videos. The 60's and the 70's had seen a few music videos, but none of them were presenting an actual story, as the shockingly outstanding music video “Thriller” did. “Billie Jean” was directed by Steve Baron. Conceptualised by Michael himself, the music video “Beat It” was directed by Bob Giraldi. For the choreography, Michael Jackson collaborated with Michael Peters.

At the 11th Annual American Music Awards, early 1984, Michael Jackson won 8 awards, including “Favourite Pop/Rock Album” and “Favourite Soul/R&B Album”, both for “Thriller”.
